Windsor artist, Christian Aldo makes his long
anticipated return to the Maniscalco Gallery, where
he exhibited regularly in the late 1990s. A meet the
artist reception will take place on FRIDAY, APRIL
2, 6-9 PM. There will also be an artist "walk/talk
about" on Sunday, April 4, 2-4 pm. Both events
are free & open to the public.
Christian is an exciting and innovative artist who
arouses the senses and inspires great wonder. His
force of personality is definitely expressed fully
in his work. He is a master of bas relief, a three-dimensional
marriage between painting and sculpture; his sculptures
are highly interactive and playful. His uniquely vibrant
creations have caught the attention of discriminating
buyers and the curious public alike.
Since 1990, Christian Aldo has exhibited in over 50
shows in the United States and Canada. Christian is
continuously exploring and pushing the boundaries
of his art work, bouncing back and forth between figurative,
abstract and sculpture. With an astounding output
of an average of 20 major pieces a year, Christian
still finds time and energy to pursue his interior
design projects, launch an exciting new toy line and
direct and produce the fantasy feature film "Xeno's
Inferno" to be released in 2003. Christian founded
the "Park Street Gallery" in Windsor and
collaborated in the development of the Maniscalco
Gallery. This exhibit will next travel to NYC.
"Christian Aldo" Sfalcin was born
in Windsor, Ontario Canada on August 9th, 1969 to
Aldo and Annette Sfalcin. A union that would prove
to be a dynamic combination. His mother's side of
the family overflowed with a playful, creative energy
and from his father's side he would inherit the inventive
and technical skills he would need to put it all together.
Creative play was always encouraged in the sfalcin
household and after 20 years of practice, in 1990
Christian moved out west to attend Vancouver, British
Columbia's prestigious Emily Carr College of Art and
Design.
Like second nature, he immediately began experimenting
with bas relief (3 Dimensional marriage between painting
and sculpture) and interactive sculptures. His uniquely
vibrant creations soon caught the attention of prospective
buyers and the curious public. Before completing his
first year of school, Christian had begun exhibiting
his work with surprising success. Disenchanted with
art school, Christian instead chose to pursue his
relief paintings and sculptures full time.
