This painting is from a couple of very old, grainy B&W photographs taken in Iraq, depicting mother and child. I have set them against a cloud-filled sky representing the passage of time. Jacob's right hand belongs to Mary Maniscalco, who graciously allowed him to borrow it for the painting.
