Raising Money and Spirits for
Karmanos Cancer Institute Breast Cancer Education
A portion of all art sales that evening were added
to the final amount raised for Karmanos Cancer Institute's
Breast Cancer Education Program.
The money raised for the quilt itself and for that
evening totalled over $1,300.
How many people do you know who have been affected
by cancer? It takes a very little from the very few
to make a lot of difference to the many. Many thanks
to those who have contributed their time and talent
to the project. As a community we have created a quilt
to raise money for the Karmanos Cancer Institute.
Proceeds from the "Quilt We Built" project
will be ear-marked for BREAST CANCER EDUCATION at
the Karmanos Institute. The Quilt itself will be displayed
at Karmanos, where it will provide comfort, hope and
inspiration to those who need it most.
The "Quilt We Built" project was the brainchild
of Amanda Maniscalco and is the culmination of many
hours of work by many talented, generous people, some
of whom have experienced the devastation of this disease
first hand. Raising a common voice, these brave people
"decorated" and contributed individual fabric
squares and/or money to create the magnificent quilt.
The theme of the quilt was healing the spirit and
will be displayed and presented to representatives
of Karmanos on October 12th. A DONATION OF $25WAS
SUGGESTED FOR ADMISSION. Also, a portion of all artwork
sold that evening went toward Breast Cancer Education.
