Continued . . .
I encourage the viewer to stair deeply into the center of the work and contemplate and meditate on what peace means in a world growing increasingly more violent and chaotic.
The idea of our having a peaceful center, surrounded by chaos, being in the world but not of the world, is what I’m going for with Centered. The external world is depicted with hot, almost burning colors and a rough, foreboding surface. In contrast, our center is soft, cool and peacefully protected inside, recessed beneath the hostile surface, where there is light. Often, during struggle, we must decide and work to shut out the harsh reality, making our peaceful, calm place, our reality, even in the midst of difficulty.
Can you think of a cooler night light option?
