I didnt want to make a big deal about my recent shoulder surgery, out of some concern about my ability to paint. Good news: I have proven once and for all, we paint with our mind, not our hands. With some difficulty and with frequents rests, I give you If I Just. Hopefully, the great title more than makes up for any flaws you may perceive.

Confirmation bias is real and my practice is to listen and be guided by experts in the subject at hand. My uneducated opinion doesn't carry as much weight as those who've spent their lives in public service, science or economics, for instance. Stop cherry picking facts and conjecture to justify your extreme opinions. It's time to return to sane discourse.

Here's my response to the Springfield Haitian-Refugees-eating-pets conspiracy theory. At the end of the day, instead wondering IF anyone would eat someone's pet let's ask WHY? Can you imagine the level of abject poverty that would motivate such a desperate action? Of course, no pets have been eaten. Thats utter nonsense. But if there were people eating pets in Springfield I'd be wondering about the horrific conditions that would have to be present for such a thing to happen.

If we don't recognize and call out the insult to humanity, that Haitians are being degraded by such a vicious xenophobic conspiracy theory. Even though we all know it isn't true, we are left villainizing another entire group of people. People with the same wants and desires as you and I. You dont have to believe the lie; it has already had its intended effect. Scapegoating people of color, from every corner of the globe, is his sole purpose for repeating and repeating the lie. Dictators (weak people) need scapegoats.

But if you really must know how it's done. . .

We are making progress toward our goal. Thanks to those who've heard the call to help me help these two extraordinary individuals. Truth be told, I was hogging the joy of doing something meaningful. I am happy to share the joy with you. I was never a very generous person. God changed me and taught me the pleasure of helping others. And you know what's funny? Job and Abel are the generous ones. They pray for me and my family, they constantly remind me of how blessed I am. Not by anything they say but in who they are being and have always been for me and everyone they meet. They have a gift for making everyone around them feel special. I will never forget the way they attended to the needs of the elderly Louis, pastor's mother. They are in it for others. They are joyful in the midst of unimaginable suffering. Please pitch in. Do it for your own well being. Giving is truly the way.
