Mountain Majesty, 16 x 20″ oil on canvas, framed by the artist
Here’s the latest demo from a really fun painting party. I worked on it after everyone left, experimenting with some crazy colors to create a bit more vibration. I may have gone too far with crazy color, but it was a worthwhile experiment. A little color often goes a long way. When is too much of a good thing a good idea? This is why I prefer a limited palette; it makes it harder to get into trouble. Gaudy color is the result of feeling like a kid in a candy store, wanting to use every tube of paint you own. If done with restraint, however, it can make for good color harmony. I like it when you can’t always tell the clouds from the mountains.
