What is an Essential Still Life?

In addition to my oil portraits I can create a very personal still life, perhaps celebrating a bride’s wedding, or other monumental event, with an “essential still life” remembering “a few of her favorite things.” He can capture a special moment in your life, a sport, a musical instrument, the trappings of the hunt. Rather than a portrait of a person, let’s create a portraits with the objects, real or imagined, which have meaning in your life. They can represent the essence of someone very special, an achievement, our personal values. Any number of meaningful objects can be combined creatively into an original work of art. Can you think of four or five objects that express an important event or time of life of the people you love? We can work together to arrange them into a still life and create a treasured heirloom.

Still Lives Matter

Whenever I do still lives, even non-commissioned still lives, I often incorporate personal elements. I like to combine unlikely elements as well, to create something original. I see no reason to paint another bowl of fruit, unless I can bring something new to the idea. If you have objects which represent someone you love, let’s arrange them into a custom still life.
