Calm In the Storm depicts a truly strange and magnificent atmospheric condition. Our travelers remain calm as they move across the prairie, one of many perils they face on their journey. The work is derived from several sources but primarily from a photo taken by Phylis Osgood’s son of a cattle caravan east of Cassoday Kansas. I’m please with the work. We feel the power of nature and wonder how our travelers remain calm in the storm. I think its better in real life – the painting, that is. Subtle changes of value in nature seem to get lost with photography and in the transubstantiation to paint. Check this out:
