Pigtails 16×16″ oil on panel

Pigtails was inspired by a recent trip to the Louvre in Paris. I am guilty of stealing photos of people engaged in deep activity, because they make a more present painting sometimes than posed pics. Something wonderful caught the young lady’s eye. And I happened to catch it. We were in the big room with the Mona Lisa. She seems carefree and her alabaster skin glistens in the natural light coming though the high ceiling dome. This is also homage to my father and the generations of artists who elongated a woman’s neck to make her more elegant. I did not elongate this young lady’s neck. She really has that long of a neck. Very elegant indeed.
