Tiggey is a continuation of my wildlife series. I have painted an Elephant and a Rhino. Tiggey was a stuffed animal who came to me during a particularly difficult time in my life; he comforted and protected me and was in short, very therapeutic for me. I always wished Tiggey could come to life. This painting of the Bengal Tiger is the closest I will come to that.
Another connection: my dad painted the Detroit Tigers logo that was on Tiger Stadium for years. It was a terrifying roaring Tiger. I'm too afraid to paint anything that scary!
Tiggey is the latest in my love affair with the #WWF and another message that painting these magnificent animals is a far more noble pursuit than poaching them.
A portion of the sale will go to WWF.
