continued. . . .
Jesus Glancing is mild commentary on our society's idea of truth and goodness. We are so used to seeing depictions of Jesus as the blond haired, blue eyed Anglo American. We forget he was Mediterranean or Egyptian. I make no claims about the ethnic makeup of the historic or Biblical Jesus. To me, Jesus is universal. I simply felt an aspect of Jesus when I encountered my subject, Nick. I like the expression of my Jesus and his sideways glance. Nick had a very quizzical, somewhat challenging, expression that I think I captured, some piece of Jesus we don't often see depicted. I have accentuated the clarity and intensity in his glance. His essence as a fellow human intrigues me. We are strangely drawn to this Jesus. We can only imagine what he might be thinking.
