Let there be Light!
I invite you to find me at the corner of Calhoun and Meeting during the Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibition in Marian Square, a fabulous festival of great art by top artists in the south. Myself and 52 other great artists will be there in person every day between May 23 and June 8, everyday to talk about art and staying cool. I will have lots of new works, originals and some giclees for you to browse. This promises to be the best Piccolo Spoleto yet. Here are some new paintings you will find in my tent.
I will have rare, one of a kind paintings, in my inimitable style. I will be sharing fantasy art, some imaginary realism, in addition to the hyper real portraits that delve deeply into the character of my subjects. I will have landscapes from Santa Fe, France and of course, my beautiful home of Charleston. My mission is to capture a piece of humanity in all my works with a monk like devotion to light, as the supreme character in my paintings. To me, the effect of light is the God effect. It not only gives my work a sense of place, with a specific temperature, time of year, humidity and barometric pressure. The light is a presence unto itself, a fully developed character (God) that is interacting with the elements.
And, as we grow old, my portrait of you will remain forever young. Unfortunately, I’m not able to arrange it the other way. But certainly having a portrait of your family or the founder of your company or your dog, is making a big comeback as we are being buried in tech and AI and its too much! We long for the human touch. I am giving away inspiration but I am selling art.
I hope this missive gives you a taste of what to expect. I promise there will be something for everyone at this year’s PSOAE. Find your way there and find a square or rectangle to fill the void on your wall or your heart.
