Am I Entitled?
Am I entitled? I was born into advantages that have set me up for a good life. But am I entitled? I worked hard and made the most of those advantages. But am I entitled? I have dedicated my life to lifting everyone up with the success I have enjoyed. But am I...
Stop Trump at the Ballot Box
This Battle can only be Won by Voting The unfortunate and inexcusable assassination attempt notwithstanding, Trump is still Trump. We must stop him decisively at the ballot box. Until then, we must fight the good fight, the fight of ideas, with everything we have. We...
One Man’s Trauma
We refer to life's obstacles as “formative experiences” or “trials” when we’re mature enough to process the challenges they present. We may succeed or fail but we are emotionally prepared to accept the consequences. And when we are not emotionally prepared to deal...
A Vortex of Hoplessness
This is a very difficult subject and I'm probably out of my league discussing, because I'm a member of white middle class by birth. But maybe, that is what makes me the most qualified. I have lived the entitlements heaped upon my demographic. Yes, I have struggled,...
Shatner in Space – the poem
William Shatner in Space by Robert Maniscalco Consider the young and the old Shatner, both, who, in the understatement of any century, I deeply admire. But I don't go to Star Trek conventions because I am not a joiner. That’s because of my emulation, often to a...
Boundless
I took the family to see BOUNDLESS last night, a new musical written by Mary Fishburne and Directed by Thomas Keating. Five years in the making, against impossible odds, my friend (well I’m more of an admirer) Mary knocks it out of the park. Her music is tuneful and...
Our Purpose
We are here to find a way We can educate people to recognize truth and beauty. But we must also educate people to recognize lies and ugliness. These are not subjective qualities. Truth is truth, or at least it use to be. Beauty that goes below the surface is real....
Choosing Darkness
I finally figured out why I do insanely stupid things like marrying for the wrong reasons, spending too much time in toxic relationships, getting back surgery to prevent more back pain, or even getting myself sexually assaulted when I was 14, at an age which someone...
The Rights of Children in a Pro Birth Society
When Does Life Begin? If we’re honest, let us concede for a moment that life begins at conception. The instant a seed finds and combines with an egg, a soul comes into being. So, if we are talking about institutionalizing the sanctity of life, we must do away with...
Vote Tuesday – Democracy is in the Balance
Wake up! This isn’t about inflation or “sleepy Joe.” It’s about fascism; it’s about the end of our democratic system, already weakened. Their plan is to tie up the election process; they are planting people who will sow more and more doubt until we give up and finally...

As bad as the first one was, to which he so vehemently objected, the second one is far worse. It's a very scary painting. It is based on his new official photo, which is frightening. THIS IS NOT a criticism of the artists's skills. He looks like a monster, right out of the 1950s. You had Frankenstein, Dracula, the Werewolf, now comes the Trump. The malevolence is astounding. I guess he thinks it makes him look powerful and intimidating. I think they accurately reflect the dark soul of the subject. ... See MoreSee Less
New Trump portrait donated by White House hangs in Colorado Capitol after earlier one drew his ire
apnews.com
Last spring, Trump posted on social media that Sarah Boardman “must have lost her talent as she got older” and “purposely distorted” him, criticisms the Colorado Springs artist denied. Thanks Sue Jaissle Williams for bringing this story to my attention. It's a double whammy. Of course, there's the portrait connection; she's quite an artist. But also, I've been dealing with mine and now my kids social anxiety for years. It's a real thing, exacerbated by COVID and the current political polarization.
I think the way Molly chose to deal with it is absolutely brilliant. I've always said, there's no stopping a person of reasonable intelligence and perspicacity, from achieving mental wellness. I particularly appreciate how Molly owned the problem, an essential first step to any healing process. ... See MoreSee Less
