This is my private student, Angie’s, father in law. We barrowed him for the subject of a recent portrait lesson. This is my version. Angie’s came out great too. Carl reminds me very much of my own father, in his later years. There is a sweetness in Carl that I just could not resist. I wanted to capture the compassion and also some of the drama and majesty of the aging process itself. There is a fragile strength that I love in this portrait.
