Cassandra 36 x 48″ oil on linen, gallery wrapped

In the mythology and religion of ancient Greece, Cassandra was a prophetess whose fate was to foretell future events correctly but never to be heeded or believed. She was the daughter of Priam, Troy’s last king, and his wife Hecuba. The god Apollo fell in love with Cassandra and offered her the gift of foretelling the future in return for her love. Cassandra agreed to the bargain and received Apollo’s gift but then refused to keep her word. In retaliation, Apollo cursed her so that her prophecies would never be believed. When we can see clearly what’s coming and so many don’t believe us, this is how it feels. We find ourselves feeling gaslit, our mouths agape. How can they not see what is happening right before their eyes?

Hung in a living room, office, or gathering space, this painting becomes a daily reminder to live—and lead—with the next generation in mind. It’s a painting about trust, responsibility, and the quiet courage it takes to let go—and to receive wisdom. It asks: What are we really giving to those who follow us? A burden? A blessing? A chance to do better? In this suspended moment in time, everything is still possible. Cassandra is for people who feel they’re standing between silos or truth. These silos are made up structures that are carefully nurtured by the Epstein class, to divide and concur. Parents, teachers, mentors, spiritual leaders, even environmental advocates—those who can see that must make others see the truth may see this painting as a beacon for bravery, for fighting for what is true. It’s a visual reminder that the Earth, and the future of mankind, are something precious that we must pass on, not just something we use.
