Elijah has Autism and Apraxia, a speech disorder that prevents him from speaking. He doesn't appear to want to be understood. He appears very content not communicating. So we are left wondering what he is thinking. We have no way of knowing what is going on in his beautiful mind. What is he looking at? What is he seeing? What is he thinking? Only the viewer knows for sure.
