I try to combine things in a still life so there is some unpredictability, a little intrigue. The juxtaposition of a very hard substance like bronze, depicting feminine (soft) beauty and then adding soft, delicate flowers, is appealing. The objects seem to emerge from the darkness. The bronze is a sculpture my mother made. She was a very talented sculptor who continues to inspire me, even after her passing.
