Hallowed is a celebration of freedom from oppression. Not just the very real oppression of slavery, but the oppression of the mind, the self that holds us back from becoming who we were meant to be. Always hoping for freedom and believing it is out of reach, is itself a form of self-oppression. Part of my “Faces of the Lowcountry” and “The Quench Project” series, Hallowed says, “freedom is available to me, right now, wherever I am, whatever my circumstances.”
