The DVD, from Liliedahl Video Productions, is even more comprehensive than the first, much more down to business. Robert’s focus is on breaking down the fundamentals for the viewer, the ones many teachers tend to gloss over or skip altogether. He also gets into the nuances of handling the brush and executing and recognizing the master-stroke when it happens. There’s a section on what to do when you get into a drawing jam. In the new DVD there is more explanation about the advantages of mixing and using the Power Palette. Other bonus features allow you to take in as much or as little information as you’re ready to hear, when you’re ready to hear it. I recently purchased your new portrait DVD from Liliedahl Fine Art. I really enjoyed your palette information and decided to try it on a painting I have just started. While I’ve been exposed to something similar, I think you have come up with an amazingly straightforward, logical and creative system of laying out a palette. I have studied with a number of national portrait artists who are excellent teachers, all of whom talk about value and laying out colors according to values, but this system amazed me. Once I took the time to lay out all the paint, I painted twice as fast, found workable color mixes I had never tried before, and came out with glowing color. I did add some favorite colors to the palette that you do not mention, but I thought this was a negligible difference, since I still laid them down according to the principles you set out in your dvd. This painting is much further along than I anticipated at this time and I am very happy with the result. So I must say thank you and express a rave review for your system — which I’m sure you’ve heard many times before, but I felt compelled to write! Please add me to your email list.
