Portrait of Butch
I first encountered the work of Robert Maniscalco at a local art center showcasing his “Gratitude’. It had a huge effect on me, and I was about to purchase it, when I thought I should instead have him do a portrait of my late husband. I sent him my favorite picture which was decades old. After much back and forth (and I imagine much frustration on Robert’s part), he produced a painting that so beautifully captured Butch that it took my breath away. If you are ever considering having a portrait done, this is the artist you want. Ellen Burnett
Thank you Ellen for this kind review. I’m so glad you ran across my work at that National Oil and Acrylics Society show. And to be sure, I enjoyed our back and forth. To me it’s part of what makes doing commission portraiture most rewarding. Although usually the process has less back and forth, I enjoyed the challenge of translating your comments into visual “art” terms, making it all the more gratifying when I finally got it right. You were a delight to work with and I’m glad you got the portrait that clearly means so much to you. That’s what it’s all about for me.
