Robert will be presenting a wide selection of his currently available work, along with hand-embellished giclees of his best and most iconic images at the Festival. This will be Robert’s first time at PSOAE. In fact, this will be Robert’s first foray into outdoor exhibiting. Normally, his work is available from galleries or on his website: ManiscalcoGallery.com
“You’re never too old to try something new,” says Robert, age 62.
Robert said, “at the PSOAE, I’ll be able to show a greater breadth and depth of my work, especially if sales go as well as hoped.” All of Robert’s works are personal expressions of his experience and world view. There will be landscape, still life and portraiture in his tent.
Robert will also be painting live.
“I have a few high profile portrait commissions (which I cannot disclose at this time) that need to happen, even though I’m an exhibitor.” His PSOAE will include national award winning and iconic Maniscalco works.
Maniscalco is a master of the figure and the portrait and there will plenty of examples of this genre, both commission and non-commission. “I feel like my work has deepened over his over forty year career.
Some of the work at the PSOAE will be from The Quench Project, which is an exploration of the many ways people express desire and the many ways we find to quench them. “The human face is an endless font of inspiration. I love the adventure in the subtle expressions, the myriad of thoughts and feelings that happen in the human face,” says Robert. Few artists are able to capture these qualities in the human face with the depth of a Maniscalco. That level of understanding is a generational thing. Robert learned from his father, master portraitist, Joseph Maniscalco (1921-2006).
After winning Best in Show in the “Our Rivers, Our Lakes” exhibit last fall, Robert will present a solo exhibition featuring recent work, including several from his Quench Project.
