Russell Ebeid Presentation
In addition to the official portrait for the St Joseph Hospital, I was happy to present two more portraits to the family for their personal enjoyment. Here is my speech of October 29th, presented at the official unveiling at the hospital: Hello everyone. Thank you so...
The Next Conservatives
Here’s why Liberals are the next conservatives We all believe in capitalism. If you've worked hard, you deserve success. If you’re a natural born citizen, if you were born into money, stability, or social status, if you happened to have been born white or male, then...
Look Me in the Eye and Lie
Jeff Flake is confronted by Sexual Assault Survivors Did anyone notice the conflict and terror in Jeff Flakes’s eyes as those survivors confronted him today? Dylan Roof also refused to look into the eyes of his accusers. But there is a subtle difference. Many believe...
DARVO
Independent? Judicious? He doesn't sound very independent, judicious or even remotely credible. The testimony of Bret Kavanaugh sounds exactly like the rants I endured on the phone for weeks after I was sexually assaulted at 14. This person is self-righteous,...

A Labor of Love
The Russell Ebeid Portrait There is nothing like that sweet moment when I unveil the portrait, into which I have poured my heart and soul. The immediate family traveled to Pontiac St Joseph Hospital to see and approve the portrait of Russell Ebeid, in advance of the...
My Proof of God
Warning: trigger alert-explicit content. Faith is a deeply personal experience. People come to it in many ways. Although proof of God exists all around us, my personal proof for the existence of a loving God came to me in the most unlikely of circumstances. I had an...
Day of the Dove
We just re-watched this episode from STOS. “Day of the Dove” is very salient at this moment in our history, when an almost irrational hatred and anger grips our planet. The desire to win, to defeat our “enemies” has taken us over. Who is instigating this division...
Making America Great Again?
Want to make America great again? Making anything anything AGAIN is the fool’s exercise in futility. So don’t look backwards. Instead focus specifically on what you thought was so great "back then" and manifest it, today. Accept others. Accept yourself For instance,...

“Light” is a #painting about the moment before everything changes—the quiet split-second when intention becomes action. Set against a swirling, cosmic backdrop, the hands of God (or man?) hold earth or another planet to the flame of destruction (or enlightenment?). The painting invites you to consider both the beauty and the weight of what we choose to ignite in our lives. It holds the tension between our power to create and our responsibility to care. #Light is for those who think deeply about #purpose, #stewardship, and the mystery of #existence, “Light” becomes more than an artwork. It’s a daily reminder that even the smallest spark—an idea, a conversation, a decision—can shape entire worlds. There’s a moment—right before we act—when everything is still possible.
“Light” was painted for the people who feel that weight: the therapists, teachers, spiritual guides, scientists, and quiet leaders who know their choices ripple out farther than they can see. If you’ve ever looked at our fragile little planet and felt both awe and responsibility, this piece is meant to live in your space. A reminder that what you choose to ignite today matters. As Americans marked Presidents’ Day — a holiday traditionally reserved for honoring the nation’s leaders, their legacies and the arc of presidential history — Donald Trump found himself in the middle of a growing controversy over how his legacy is framed in one of the country’s most revered cultural institutions.
Trump reportedly requested that the Smithsonian Institution commission a new official presidential portrait that would encapsulate both his nonconsecutive terms — a departure from the usual practice of unveiling an official painted portrait only after a president leaves office. An earlier portrait commissioned after his first term, painted by the late Ronald Sherr, was never displayed because Trump was running for reelection when it was completed. But now, Trump wants a different image to represent his full tenure. At the same time, the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery has already stirred debate by replacing Trump’s previous photographic portrait in the “America’s Presidents” exhibition and stripping wall text that noted his two impeachments and the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack. The new display features a stark image by White House photographer Daniel Torok with minimal context, a contrast to other presidents’ portraits, which still include fuller biographical captions.
